This initiative is the most extensive collaboration between UNICEF and any Serbian company so far and, as a part of it, Nelt Group is set to invest 1.3 million US dollars over three years.
The three-year partnership will focus on strengthening the educational system whose improvement aims to ensure fair access to quality education and skills development for every child.
In Serbia, this collaboration will benefit 15,000 children from 30 schools who will be powered by improved digital skills critical for their future success. In North Macedonia, 500 pupils will get invaluable experience that will improve their employability, and more than 8,100 pupils will be able to acquire “green” skills that are crucial for sustainable development. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, more than 5,000 pupils will get the opportunity to learn vital skills for the 21st century that will prepare them for future challenges and opportunities.
“Nelt Group is committed to creating meaningful change in our communities,” said Miloš Jelić, President of the Supervisory Board of Nelt Group, adding: “Through our cooperation with UNICEF, we strategically invest in empowering children and the youth with basic skills for the 21st century. These are a must to understand our time but also to meet the growing requirements of the labour market. This partnership should prepare them for challenges that await them tomorrow and ensure they are ready to seize opportunities and contribute as future leaders.”
The business sector plays a significant role in building resistant communities. By investing in the education and skill development of children and the youth, the companies contribute to social welfare while also ensuring their own lasting success in an increasingly competitive and dynamic global economy.
“Children worldwide have a huge potential to bring about positive changes. The key is enabling them to acquire the necessary skills and supporting them in becoming future innovators and drivers of change. Our experience and data indicate that investing in children today is the surest way to secure a better tomorrow for everybody. When a company invests in UNICEF programs and systems helping children, entire communities and economies enjoy the benefits. We are thankful to Nelt Group for its vision, trust and ambition to make great things happen. They lead by example, showcasing how corporations can shape the future and make the world a better place,” said Deyana Kostadinova, UNICEF Representative in Serbia.
Dr Saša Stojanović, Assistant Minister in the Ministry of Education, working in the education digitalisation sector, attended the agreement signing ceremony. He emphasised how important it is for companies to understand the significance of education and contribute to their improvement through investment. “The Government of the Republic of Serbia has recognised the importance of digital technologies as they improve the system and save workers in the education sector more time for other activities and pedagogical work with children,” pointed out Stojanović.
The collaboration of Nelt Group and UNICEF deals with the pressing issue of the unemployment of the young and the urgent need to integrate technologies into the educational system. Harnessing the expert knowledge of both organisations, this partnership strives to create a brighter future for new generations.
